Job summary

SelectTech is seeking an Aerospace Sheet Metal Technician in Colorado Springs to assemble and fit major structures, drill and rivet components, and verify dimensions with precision instruments. The role requires reading technical drawings and adhering to AS9100 quality standards.

Candidates should have 5–10 years of depot-level experience on large aircraft, a HS diploma, and may qualify for a Secret clearance. FAA A&P is a plus; MS Office skills are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years depot level structural installations on large aircraft.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and install per drawings.
  • Experience with airframe corrosion removal/prevention.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and AS9100.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.
  • FAA A&P license preferred but not required.
  • Experience on C-130 variant airframes.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and/or create major assembly structures and minor fitting operations.
  • File, saw, burr, trim, frame, rivet, drill, and ream as required.
  • Able to align parts on jigs and measure with micrometers/calipers.
  • Modify assemblies and incorporate changes into the structure.
  • Monitor and verify quality per control procedures.

Job description

Are you a skilled Aerospace Sheet Metal Technician ready to work on cutting-edge aircraft in a dynamic and supportive environment? We’re looking for detail-oriented, hands-on professionals to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining the safety, performance, and integrity of aircraft structures.

As an Aerospace Sheet Metal Technician at SelectTech, you will be using your skills and expertise to assemble and/or create major assembly structures and minor part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming. You will be responsible for aligning parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates and fixtures and measuring parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions. You also may be responsible for modifying incomplete and complete assemblies and incorporating the changes into the structure, and monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • 5-10 years’ experience performing depot level structural installations/repairs on large military cargo aircraft or commercial equivalents.
  • Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications; ability to complete installations per technical drawings while maintaining edge distance and pitch.
  • Progressive experience with structure assembly, minor part fitting techniques and repair and refinishing such as airframe corrosion removal/prevention, as applicable
  • Ability to install various fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.
  • May require certain certifications in field.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience operating within an AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Effective communication skills in a fast paced, complex manufacturing environment
  • Able to work as a part of a team or alone depending on complexity of installation.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant License, preferred, but not required.
  • Relevant prior military service working on C-130 variant airframes.
  • Solid judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills.
  • Must be able to qualify for and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
