Pro-Type Industries in Sterling, VA is seeking an experienced CNC Laser Operator to own laser cutting operations for precision sheet-metal components. You will review drawings, set up machines, and ensure parts meet specifications with first‑piece inspection and ongoing process checks.

Candidates should read engineering drawings, program files, and maintain strict safety and quality standards while supporting production priorities and equipment cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment in metal fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong measurement skills with calipers, micrometers, scales, and gauges.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and process discipline.

Responsibilities

• Configure and operate CNC laser cutting equipment to produce precision sheet-metal parts.
• Review work orders and drawings before running programs for the day.
• Ensure correct material type, thickness, quantity, and machine settings.
• Load/unload sheet metal safely and manage material handling.
• Perform first‑piece and in‑process inspections and document results.
• Identify and escalate issues related to tooling, programs or drawings.
• Maintain traceability and neat, organized work area.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to meet schedules.
