Job summary

PG Aerotech in Hauppauge, NY is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Design Engineer to prepare design data for aircraft parts using reverse engineering and coordinate with FAA DERs and certification teams. You will develop repairs, design automated test equipment, and support part qualification while communicating closely with engineering and sales on new projects.

The role requires a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field, 5+ years in design/manufacturing/quality, CAD/3D modeling,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
  • 5+ years of full-time relevant work experience (design, manufacturing, quality).
  • Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling and SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
  • Experience with aerospace specifications and processes; familiarity with circuit board design and reverse engineering is a plus.
  • Experience developing automated test equipment (ATE) and test procedures for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic aircraft systems.
  • Proficient in scripting or programming for test automation (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, VBA).
  • Knowledge of data acquisition (DAQ) hardware/software (NI/LabVIEW, MCC DAQ, DASLab, MATLAB).
  • Ability to draft technical documents and comply with FAA guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design data for electrical/electromechanical aircraft parts using reverse engineering.
  • Coordinate with certification and material engineers and FAA DERs.
  • Investigate in-service equipment failures to determine root cause and develop repairs.
  • Design, build, and validate automated test equipment (ATE) for various aircraft components.
  • Develop automated test scripts and data acquisition routines for testing and repair validation.
  • Create certification packages and support procurement, manufacturing, and certification processes.
