Job summary

RTCA is seeking a CMM Inspector to perform dimensional inspections in a precision aerospace environment at our Chatsworth, CA facility. You will program, set up, and troubleshoot CMMs, interpret drawings, and maintain records to assure product conformity.

The role requires reading engineering documentation, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5, and collaborating with production, quality, and customers. A strong quality focus and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality inspection within aerospace, machining, manufacturing, or precision machining environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, CAD models, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles and inspection methodologies.
• Experience operating, setting up, programming, or troubleshooting CMM equipment.
• Proficiency using standard inspection tools and dimensional measurement equipment.
• Ability to complete and maintain detailed inspection and quality records.
• Understanding of quality management systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or related standards.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Basic to advanced shop math skills and understanding of dimensional analysis.

Responsibilities

• Work a full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, CA location.
• Perform visual, dimensional, mechanical, and final inspections using CMMs and conventional inspection equipment.
• Develop, execute, validate, and troubleshoot CMM programs from drawings and specs.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Maintain inspection records, FAIRs, and quality documentation.
• Review inspection data for compliance with standards and customer requirements.
• Support corrective and preventive actions and nonconforming material investigations.
• Interface with production teams, customers, and auditors as needed.
• Maintain compliance with AS9100/ISO standards and use precision measuring tools.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in inspection methods and programming efficiency.
