Job summary

Element Materials Technology in Carson, CA seeks an experienced Quality Engineer reporting to the Quality Manager to support and improve the QMS, calibration processes, and Nadcap/AS9100 compliance for aerospace testing services.

The role focuses on maintaining accreditations, driving a culture of quality, and collaborating with clients, accreditation bodies, and internal teams to ensure accuracy and integrity in inspection and testing outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline with 5 years’ materials testing experience ideal.
• Experience in ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100 and Nadcap environments is required.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with quality investigations and corrective actions.
• Commitment to staying updated with quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-house calibrations on measurement equipment
• Subcontract and schedule external calibration services
• Maintain and extend accreditations (ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100, Nadcap) and Prime approvals
• Maintain the QMS with necessary controls for inspection and testing
• Prioritize activities to meet business and customer needs
• Drive a culture of QA and improvement across laboratory operations
• Support customer approvals and communication with bodies
• Assist in AS9100 and Nadcap assessments
• Address assessment findings per quality requirements
• Support QA/QC programs to reduce poor quality cost and ensure compliance
• Support method/system audits and proficiency testing
• Maintain relationships within Rancho Dominguez and wider quality community
