Job summary

Qarbon Aerospace seeks a knowledgeable Aerospace Quality Engineer 3 to support production operations, establish the quality system, and drive inspection activities on assigned programs.

The role covers tooling validation, process control, and continuous improvement with emphasis on FPQ/FAI, ZDM, and APQP to ensure on-time, defect-free delivery to customers.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship or Permanent Resident per ITAR guidelines.
• Onsite-only role; 100% onsite, Mon-Thu (4x10) shift.
• Experience with large composite and/or metallic major structures.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to a wide audience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Active clearance preferred; willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Support production operations and establish the quality system and inspection activities.
• Develop and deploy inspection processes and FPQ/FAI plans.
• Validate tooling functionality and part conformity to support delivery schedules.
• Lead deployments of APQP tools to evaluate designs and concepts.
• Apply 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and Pareto analyses to drive containment and corrective actions.
• Establish Zero Defect Manufacturing metrics and monitor quality performance.

Position Overview

The Quality Engineer 3 provides technical support to production operations and helps establish the quality system and production inspection related activities on their assigned project(s) for the program(s). The positionrequiresknowledgeofrelevanttechnologiesandcanoperateunassistedonroutinetasksonadeployedmulti-functional team and helps ensure the quality system meets stakeholder requirements including technical compliance, adherenceto productionprocessesandstandards, andbusiness case(including quality,delivery,and cost). Supports the production process with technical knowledge for tooling, part fabrication, assembly, and delivery. Supports implementation of "state of the art" processing technology as it applies to both materials and techniques for tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

Principal Accountabilities

Works under occasional supervision from senior engineers and program leadership in a team environment. Skills shouldalignwithworkingknowledgeofprocessdevelopment,processcontrol,manufacturingsupportandrelated technical activities in an aerospace production environment:

• Subjectmatterexpertformanufacturingofcompositecomponentsand/or metallic major assemblies ensuring parts, sub-assemblies, and tools meet industry standards and customer requirements.
• Akeymemberofteam(s)thatworksfromengineeringrequirementstodevelopinspectionprocesses& methodologies, including providing guidance to lesser experienced team members; deploys First Part Qualification (FPQ) and First Article Inspection (FAI) plans.
• Responsibleforimplementationofinspection tooling,equipment,andvalidatingproductionplanning ensures appropriate inspection pointsfromoriginal conceptthroughtoproduction.Responsibleforvalidatingtoolingfunctionalityandorpartconformity, and production part quality in timely manner to support the customer delivery schedule.
• IdentifiesandcoordinateintroductionofnewtechnologyinlinewiththeassignedProgram/Value Stream requirements.
• Adherestoallapplicablebusiness&qualityprocessesandproceduressuchasFAA,DoD,Export Control, ITAR, Nadcap, AS9100 and customer contractual requirements.
• Knowledgeable inLean/SixSigmaToolstopredictandimproveprocessyield.Somelevelofrelated formal certification is a plus.
• SupportsdeploymentofAdvancedProductQualityPlanning(APQP)toolstoevaluatecustomerdesigns and process concepts and assist in manufacturing process down select.
• Knowledgeable in PracticalProblem-Solvingtechniquessuchas8D,5Why,IshikawaDiagrams, and Pareto Analysis to determine the origin of a failure, its impact to overall business, and determine containment and countermeasure actions to eliminate recurrence of nonconformances.
• Establishes Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) plans and associated metrics such as Product Safety, Quality (includingyield,costofpoorquality,non-conformances),Delivery(completionofProcessEngineering related activities in line with the agreed schedule), Recurring and Non-Recurring Costs.
• PrimaryQualityrepresentativeforcustomersandsuppliertechnicaltopicsandreviews as required.
• Maintainpositiveteamrelationshipswithinternalandexternalcustomers,aswellaspeers.
• Otherrelateddutiesasrequiredduetochangesinbusinessprocessesorcustomerrequirements.

ExperienceandOther Requirements

• MustbeaUSCitizenoraPermanentresident (i.e.,‘GreenCard’) perITAR(InternationalTrafficin Arms Regulations) guidelines.
• ThispositionisnoteligibleforVisasponsorshiporaforeignpersonperITAR.
• Bachelor’sdegree(STEMpreferred)with6+yearsofrelatedworkexperienceorassociate’sdegreewith 8+ years of related aerospace experience, or 10+ years of experience in an aerospace Quality Assurance or equivalent Aerospace technical role.
• Position is 100% onsite, shift is Monday - Thursday (4x10) with occasional support beyond standard shift.
• Experiencewiththemanufacturingprocessesoflargetomediumcompositeand/ormetallicmajor structures
• Abilitytounderstand,communicateandpresentcomplextechnicalinformationtoawideaudience.
• ProficientinMicrosoftOfficeapplications.

• Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs such as CATIA or NX a plus.
