Job summary

Qarbon Aerospace in Red Oak, Texas is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to join our on-site team. You will work with senior engineers to analyze designs, develop manufacturing plans, and drive continuous improvement of composite production.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field and 6–9 years in aerospace manufacturing, with experience in DFMA, CATIA V5, and Lean/Six Sigma. Travel is not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 6–9 years of related experience.
  • Experience in aerospace composites manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CAD tools; CATIA V5 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering designs in NPI and develop manufacturing plans with defined operations, tooling, and inspection plans.
  • Lead continuous/process improvement initiatives using lean principles.
  • Provide day-to-day support to production to resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify defect contributors in bond processes and implement containment and countermeasures.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and plan operations across the bond value stream.

Manufacturing Engineer 3 Position Overview

This composites Manufacturing Engineering role reports directly to the Red Oak, Texas facility, requiring the candidate to be on site to fulfill the job responsibilities.

  • Works under occasional supervision from senior engineers and program leadership in a team environment, support manufacturing production of composite components and assemblies to ensure timely delivery of products that meet customer expectations.
  • Analyze engineering designs in a new product introduction process and make recommendations for design improvements.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) principles is a plus.
  • From engineering requirements, develop manufacturing plans, defining sequence of operations, tooling requirements and quality inspection plans for the guidance of production workers.
  • Participate in and lead continuous/process improvement initiatives. Refine and enhance product processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing and production principles and techniques to all areas of production.
  • Provide day to day support working closely with production operators, supervisors, and other functional teams to resolve technical issues and perform root cause corrective action.
  • Work with mechanics throughout the bond process to help identify defect contributors and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence of bond defects.
  • Ensure mechanics are following best practices as well as planning operations throughout the entire bond operations value stream.
Experience and Other Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card') per ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) guidelines.
  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or a foreign person per ITAR.
  • Bachelor's in a relevant field (such as mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering) and 6-9 years of related experience. Candidates having significant work experience in similar roles will be considered.
  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
  • Use Lean/Six Sigma Tools to predict and improve process yield. Examples of these tools include Statistical Process Control, Variable Control Matrix, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Utilize Practical Problem-Solving techniques such as A3, 8D, Root Cause Corrective Action, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, and Parato Analysis to determine the origin of a failure, its impact to overall business, and determine containment and countermeasure actions to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing support of aerospace composites fabrication is required.
  • The candidate will be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The individual must be a dedicated and motivated and possess good communication skills with good problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in planning and manufacturing execution systems within aerospace fields is required.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of multiple engineering applications and manufacturing procedures.
  • Experience in CAD based systems, especially CATIA V5 is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology is a plus.
  • Must possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of Process/Product Configuration Control and Change Management.
  • Frequently required to spend long hours sitting at a workstation and using office equipment.
  • May be required to walk or stand for brief to extended periods
  • Must occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 40 pounds of supplies and materials
  • May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch
