Job summary

Lockheed Martin Corporation in California is seeking an inspector to perform standard operations to inspect a variety of parts and materials for prescribed chemical treating and paint processes. You will be trained to follow procedures, work from drawings, and record data in AIS system as required.

Responsibilities include adherence to specifications, dimensional checks, material sampling, heat treatment inspection, and MRB awareness.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of decimals and fractions and the ability to use various measuring instruments and perform basic dimensional inspection checks.
• Requires short specialized training in quality control processing methods and procedures, or the equivalent.
• 3 months to 1 year or equivalent Sikorsky experience.
• Experience with special finishes and related processes (e.g., heat treating, carburizing, rockhard, shot peening, anodizing, Alodining, copper plating, and tin-zinc plating).
• Prior inspection experience in an aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with MRB processes, AS9100, or other aerospace quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow standard inspection procedures and instructions to check parts and materials for specifications.
• Inspect items after processing (shot peening, welding, etching, plating, painting, aging, etc.) and enter data into AIS system.
• Identify material conditions and deviations; record times and temperatures of furnaces and chemical baths.
• Take samples and maintain test data and inspection records.
• Perform dimensional checks and aluminum hardness tests, ensure surface coverage and finish.
• Perform routine aluminum heat treat inspections and related duties as directed.
• Refer unusual conditions to supervisor and review nonconforming material in NMRR database.
• Complete operator checklists and comply with EH&S procedures.
• Segregate waste material and maintain good housekeeping.
