Job summary

Bascom Hunter is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to design and integrate power electronics for high-performance aerospace and defense applications. The role focuses on power-density improvements, system architectures, and end-to-end design from concept to hardware validation.

You will work with a cross-disciplinary team to ensure performance meets stringent system requirements, including high-voltage environments and EMI/EMC considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years designing power electronics hardware, preferably in Aerospace & Defense.
• Experience with high power inverter and gate drive circuitry for motor drives.
• Experience designing for high-voltage environments (270 VDC-600 VDC).
• Proficiency with simulation tools and programming in C and MATLAB.
• Strong EE fundamentals and embedded system experience (FPGA/microcontroller).
• Ability to move from concept through hardware validation.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. Citizen (due to program requirements).

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate and analyze power electronic systems and drive systems.
• Develop the controls architecture, identify sensor needs and software requirements for power conversion devices.
• Analyze systems for electrical, harmonic, and thermal behavior.
• Support prototype fabrication, instrumentation, testing, and qualification.
• Support system integration of power electronics with high-performance machines; collaborate with mechanical, thermal, controls, and electrical engineers.
