Job summary

Hytek Finishes in Kent, WA is hiring for an Aerospace Packager on the 2nd Shift. You will package parts after plating and other processes for shipping, and may join the FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program as required.

You will support compliance with customer specs and drawings, sign off completed work, and participate in continuous improvement activities. The position requires PPE, strong attention to detail, and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with experienced Packagers to complete work and prioritize on-time delivery
  • Follow technique cards, POs, drawings, and instructions from senior staff
  • Perform Part Mark activities as required
  • Develop and understand technique cards
  • Sign off on completed work
  • Review paperwork and perform Operator Self-Verification inspections; notify supervisor/QA of errors
  • Operate forklift as needed
  • Understand pre/post cleaning surface finish requirements
  • Be familiar with QA requirements and rework procedures
  • Read engineering drawings and follow safety precautions to avoid injuries
  • Participate in continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities to drive productivity, delivery, and service
  • Maintain high ethical standards at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Overview

Title: Aerospace Packager - 2nd Shift

Reports to: Production Managers (Value Stream or Shift)

Location: Kent, WA

Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)

Schedule: 2nd Shift

Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Job Summary

Employees in this position will package a variety of parts that have been processed through our plating and other departments in preparation for shipping to our customers. Packagers may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. The Anodize Operators perform operations in accordance with Military, Industry and OEM specifications.

* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with experienced Packagers to complete work and prioritize tasks for On-Time delivery.
  • Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders and drawings, and instructions from experienced Packagers.
  • Perform Part Mark activities as required.
  • Develop and understand technique cards.
  • Legibly sign off on work once completed.
  • General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Operate Forklift as required.
  • Knowledge of pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
  • Be familiar with engineering drawing notations.
  • Be familiar with the safety precautions & know how to avoid injury to personnel.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service. Be involved in Kaizen events as needed either as a participant or supporter.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally).
  • Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Ability to learn and use Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Ability to multi task effectively.
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with Customers and auditors.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.
Education / Previous Experience Requirements
  • 1-2 years in manufacturing environment a plus.

Ability to see/hear/feel constantly - hearing protection required when working in the area Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, safety glasses and hearing protection are required. Due to current COVID precautions, face masks are required.

Salary Range:

$ 18.50 - $26.00/hour
