Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. in Wichita, KS, seeks a Non-Destructive Inspection Engineer to advance NDI methods for aerospace materials and components.

You will work across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop and deploy automated NDI solutions, including robotics, sensors, and data acquisition systems. The role requires broad NDI knowledge, hands-on experience with UT/ET/RT/PT/MT, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 2+ years of experience applying NDI principles and technologies in engineering, manufacturing, or production.

Responsibilities

• Apply broad technical knowledge of NDI methods to aerospace materials and structures.
• Develop and implement NDI techniques for composite and metallic materials.
• Apply UT, ET, RT, PT, MT, and other NDI technologies as applicable.
• Develop automated/robotic NDI inspection solutions and data acquisition systems.
• Support programming, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of automated NDI equipment.
• Analyze inspection requirements and determine suitable NDI approaches.
• Document engineering requirements, inspection concepts, and test plans.
• Evaluate inspection data and support data processing and interpretation.
• Collaborate with Design/Manufacturing/QA teams to transition NDI into production.
• Ensure NDI solutions meet regulatory and customer requirements.
