Job summary

RTX's Materials and Process Engineering Department in Andover, MA seeks a mechanical engineer to engage with subject matter experts and perform mechanical testing to support development, design and failure analysis across a wide range of applications.

Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering, and be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance. This onsite role involves collaboration with suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with instrumental lab equipment (coursework and lab) such as Instron testing machines, hardness testers, SEM, or polishers/grinders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Assessing materials based on conformance to specifications.
• Assessing parts and hardware based on conformance to design requirements.
• Following standard written protocols, and developing and fabricating unique test plans and test setups.
• Reviewing material documentation and assessment of specifications.
• Engagement with subject matter experts to understand material usage.
• Engagement with suppliers.
