Job summary

RTX seeks a skilled Materials Engineer to evaluate materials, develop properties, and resolve technical issues for aerospace and defense products. You will perform hands-on testing, review documentation, and collaborate with SMEs and suppliers to ensure conformance to specs.

Ideal candidates hold a STEM degree and have lab equipment experience, with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. Onsite role in Rhode Island with relocation eligibility and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM.
• Experience with listed laboratory equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate materials based on conformance to specifications and performance requirements.
• Develop and/or validate materials, material properties, and processes for existing and new products.
• Provide resolution to technical, operational, and supplier problems related to materials and processes.
• Conduct hands on testing of materials using laboratory techniques.
• Follow standard written protocols and develop/test setups.
• Review material documentation and assess specifications.
• Engage with subject matter experts to understand material usage and with suppliers.
