Job summary

Joby Aviation is looking for a materials engineer to join our Additive Manufacturing team in California. You will be responsible for managing the full material lifecycle for AM metallic components, including feedstock qualification, characterization, and post-processing.

This position requires a strong background in materials engineering, preferably with a focus on metallic materials and AM processes. The role also demands excellent communication skills as you will interact with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with FAA certification standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in metallic materials characterization, processing, or manufacturing engineering.
• Familiarity with metal AM processes.
• Experience with common materials characterization technique(s).

Responsibilities

• Own incoming qualification and lot acceptance of metallic feedstocks.
• Develop and maintain feedstock control procedures.
• Investigate coupon- and component-level failures.
