Job summary

PPG in Huntsville, AL seeks a Manufacturing and Process Engineering Lead for Aerospace Transparencies. This on-site, first-shift role leads an engineering team to deliver safety, quality and productivity improvements across aircraft transparency components.

You will collaborate with operations, quality, design and new product development to reduce variability, shorten cycle times and implement automated processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required, preference for Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar disciplines.
• Three or more years of leadership or managerial experience.
• Three or more years of industrial/manufacturing experience.
• Experience with process automation is preferred.
• Proven success in process improvement and lean reductions required.
• Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering team and assist operations in achieving all objectives including safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Responsible for driving improvement and maximizing productivity among the products and processes associated with one or more work areas.
• Serve as a technical resource for production team in the work area, and with operators to eliminate barriers to production.
• Priorities include improve product quality and manufacturability, increasing process capacity, improving process safety, reducing variation within product and process, reducing cycle times and setup times, and adopting new technologies to modernize manufacturing processes
• Track and analyze relevant production metrics within work cell, to identify opportunities for improvement and track progress.
• Collaborate with quality team, design engineering team, new product development team, safety team, analytical lab, operators, and other manufacturing engineers on a regular basis to resolve problems, improve manufacturing processes, and improve safety of the work environment.
