Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an engineering co-op to work with a team on advanced manufacturing projects. You will own tasks, plan automation capital projects, research technologies, and provide guidance to optimize equipment and processes.

You'll learn about IIoT, Smart Factory solutions, and data-driven decision making, gaining exposure to aerospace manufacturing. Must be pursuing an engineering degree with SolidWorks/Siemens NX familiarity.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Earned a minimum of 30 credit hours prior to the start of the internship/co-op session.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, Lean principles, and concepts.
• Experience delivering presentations and using design software such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

• Own project tasks and manage time/resources to meet milestones.
• Plan and implement automation capital projects.
• Research, evaluate and test new technologies to raise quality.
• Provide engineering guidance to optimize equipment use.
• Integrate automation solutions into factory systems.
• Implement Smart Factory tech and data acquisition on legacy equipment.
• Analyze data and build dashboards for operations.
