Job summary

Ascend Recruiting Partners is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Stafford, VA to act as the main interface between U.S. suppliers and our design engineering team.

You will ensure accurate technical interpretation, timely issue resolution, and drive production efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 5+ years in aerospace/defense manufacturing, hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, GD&T, SolidWorks, and

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is required
• 5+ years of expereince in aerospace/space/defense manufacturing in electro-mechanical
• Proficiency in modifying and updating engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferred).
• Must be a U.S. citizen or an Active Greencard holder with the ability to obtain Clearance after being hired.
• Demonstrated ability to write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Strong background in production operations and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience with various manufacturing processes like CNC, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, 3D printing and Composites.
• Hands-on experience with assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of NPI processes and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Expereince with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma tools.
• Proficiency in interpreting GD&T, PCBA schematics, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Experience with supplier quality processes and contract manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• NPI Support: Collaborate with R&D, design, and supply chain teams to transition products from development to production.
• Develop and validate manufacturing processes for new products, including tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
