Job summary

Van-Am Tool & Engineering in St. Joseph, Missouri is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our aerospace/defense-focused team. You will develop and optimize manufacturing methods, support continuous improvement, and ensure manufacturability of components.

You should have a bachelor's degree in engineering, at least 2 years of manufacturing experience, and strong CAD and lean skills. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities in a federal contractor environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with aerospace/defense manufacturing is required.
• Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and process improvement tools.
• AS9100 familiarity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, processes, and workflows.
• Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives across aerospace and defense production lines.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability of components and assemblies.
• Assist with the design and procurement of tooling and fixtures.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry standards.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace and defense quality and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective engineering solutions.
• Document procedures, process flows, and work instructions.
• Participate in new product introduction and process validation activities.
