Job summary

Bowmar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Fort Wayne, IN to design and manufacture electronic and electro-mechanical Bowmar products for commercial and military aerospace applications. You will lead Lean Product Development activities and develop test equipment and procedures to verify product performance.

Responsibilities include design verification, root cause analysis, BOM development for quotes, and collaboration across departments to achieve highest quality with lowest waste.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years related experience or 15 years in military/aerospace electronics.
• Experience in a Lean environment.
• Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works, Solid Works PCB, and ORCAD.
• Familiar with C and C++ programming.

Responsibilities

• Design electronic and electro-mechanical products, specifying components and materials to meet customer specs.
• Design and fabricate custom test equipment to verify product performance.
• Author test equipment operating procedures and product test procedures.
• Analyze and troubleshoot repairs and non-conformance conditions.
• Perform root cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Support program management with technical proposals and BOMs for quotes.
• Estimate NRE and production labor times for quotes.
• Develop manufacturing routings, instructions, and standard work sheets for military/aerospace products.
• Participate in product design reviews using Lean Product Development and Value Stream Mapping.
• Engage in Continuous Improvement to improve quality, cost, and lead-time.
• Lead Engineering Department policy deployment goals.
