Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking a Manufacturing Director to hire, lead, and mentor manufacturing engineers, technicians, and leaders responsible for hardware builds of Impulse’s vehicles. You’ll oversee mechanical assembly, composites, welding, tubes, and vehicle integration, working with design and quality teams to deliver reliable production.

The role requires 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing and 5+ years of leadership, with a Bachelor's in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years of leading high-performing teams.
• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.
• Ability to work with cross-functional departments.

Responsibilities

• Grow team of engineers and technicians to support new programs and processes.
• Mature programs by KPI development, training, and reliability initiatives.
• Collaborate with design and quality to ensure manufacturability.
• Set daily and weekly production targets with metrics.
• Establish high technical standards through specs and training.
• Drive expansion of capabilities and capacity on the shop floor.
• Work with supply chain on make-vs-buy decisions and vendor sourcing.
• Mentor leaders to establish defense lines and succession plans.
