Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Engine Center in Middletown, CT is seeking Maintenance Mechanics to install, inspect, maintain, overhaul, and repair facilities, engine assembly and test support systems and equipment.

The 2nd shift (5x8) position focuses on following instructions, preparing tools and materials, performing component installation, preventive maintenance, and assisting with complex projects while developing skills across trades. Benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of mechanical equipment and mechanisms, hoisting and rigging techniques, hoisting and rigging systems, and piping systems.
• Some knowledge of carpentry desired.
• Must be able to read drawings and use mathematics as needed for a variety of measurements consistent with the trade. Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training. Plus 1-2 years' experience.

Responsibilities

• Under direction of Leader/Supervisor follow specific instructions and standard trade practices to obtain tools, material and equipment for carrying out work assignments on mechanical systems, control devices and related equipment.
• Perform component installation, system maintenance and repair work as assigned and carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
• Assist others responsible for complex installation, overhaul and repair projects in preparing materials and operating equipment.
• Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description. Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
• May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills.
