Job summary

Stratolaunch in Mojave, CA, seeks a detailed machinist to machine parts for aerospace testing. You will operate CNC and manual machines, inspect first articles, and work with engineers to meet exact specifications.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, applying GD&T, and performing precision measurements. Occasional composite fabrication support and safe shop practices are expected in a small team.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and metallurgical background.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T.
• Proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges and other scales.
• Experience in programming CAD/CAM software, and machining centers is a plus.
• Proficiency in running manual machines.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts to exact specifications using lathes, mills, waterjets and grinders.
• Set up, adjust, operate and check all machine tools for precision machining.
• Read engineering orders, blueprints and written work instructions.
• Diagnose machine health, perform maintenance and support composite fabrication when needed.
• Support fabrication and layup of components and assemblies and troubleshoot carrier aircraft systems.
