Job summary

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Wichita, KS to design BMS for lithium-ion aviation batteries. The role covers the full lifecycle from concept through testing and certification, focusing on digital control and analog/mixed-signal hardware integrated with aircraft power systems.

The ideal candidate will have a 5+ year background in BMS design, strong analog design skills, and excellent communication in a collaborative, results-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing lithium battery management systems (BMS).
• General analog design experience; experience with schematics and PCBs containing analog/mixed-signal circuits.
• Experience designing cell sensing, protection, balancing, and isolation circuits for lithium battery packs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail; well-organized and results oriented.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design battery management systems (BMS) for lithium-ion aviation batteries with emphasis on digital control and analog/mixed-signal hardware.
• Manage the product lifecycle from concept to testing and certification and field application.
• Develop sensing, protection, balancing, and isolation circuits for lithium packs and integrate with aircraft power systems.
