Job summary

A major academic institution in Atlanta seeks a Laboratory Support Specialist to provide essential support services in the operation and maintenance of its academic or research laboratories. Responsibilities include setup, operation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment; ordering and tracking supplies; and assisting students and faculty with lab usage. Candidates should have a high school diploma and up to two years of related experience. This role offers a dynamic environment without supervisory responsibilities. Candidates must be knowledgeable in laboratory processes and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Up to two years of job related experience.
• Working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment.
• Skills in inventory management and the use of specialized computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.
• Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
• Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
• Clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.
• Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
