Job summary

Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS offers a 10-week Summer Internship in Interior Structures. You will analyze and optimize aircraft interior structures, perform stress analyses, dynamic testing, and contribute to certification documents for regulatory compliance.

Work alongside experienced engineers onsite from late May to August, gain hands-on project experience, and receive mentorship and a prepaid stipend.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong hands-on stress analysis and finite element method experience.
• Experience with NASTRAN, Femap, or similar static analysis software; LS-DYNA is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to coordinate with multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed stress analysis on interior structures and seating systems.
• Conduct dynamic and static testing on interior components.
• Coordinate with Interior Design teams for structurally optimal designs.
• Review and approve drawings per engineering specs and regulations.
• Assist with FAA certification activities and prepare related reports.
