Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, KS, seeks an Associate or Mid-Level Industrial Engineer to optimize manufacturing systems for advanced aerostructures. You will analyze workflows, balance lines, and implement data-driven improvements to safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

The role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to scale processes for high-rate aerospace production. The position emphasizes Lean, Six Sigma, and advanced Excel/BI skills, with on-site work in a union

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree in Industrial/Systems Engineering or related field.
2+ years of IE experience in manufacturing.
Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Workflow optimization to improve plant efficiency and material handling layouts.
Balance production lines and optimize product flow with VSM.
Apply Lean/Six Sigma methods to reduce costs and waste.
Conduct time and motion studies to establish standard times.
Use analytical tools for capacity analysis and line balancing.
Collaborate with EHS for safety and ergonomic improvements.
Support macro and micro facility layout planning and 5S rollout.
Develop KPIs on labor, machine utilization, and throughput.
