Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a fluids-focused engineer to advance propulsion technologies in a fast-paced environment. You will apply hand calculations and CFD to characterize SRM fluid behavior, build 1D models, and work with multiple teams to implement design improvements while meeting system-level requirements.

You will evaluate test data, correlate it with analytical models, and contribute to design reviews, investigations, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in fluids analysis of aerospace components.
  • Experience with CFD using commercial codes (ANSYS Fluent/CFX preferred; StarCCM+ welcome).
  • Solid grounding in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specs, and test data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use hand calculations and CFD to predict fluid behavior in SRMs and components.
  • Build steady-state and transient 1D models of SRM fluid behavior.
  • Identify design improvements and collaborate with engineering teams to meet system-level requirements.
  • Evaluate test data and correlate analytical models with physical testing results.
  • Participate in design reviews, failure investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to peers.
