Job summary

Barnes Aerospace in East Hartford, CT is seeking an EDM operator for its 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm–12:00am). You will set up, program, and operate Wire and/or Sinker EDM machines to produce complex aerospace components per blueprints and GD&T.

Read routers and inspection requirements, verify dimensions, and maintain accurate production records. Requires 1+ year in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing, with knowledge of EDM processes and the ability to interpret operation sheets.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in an aerospace or high precision manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of EDM machining processes and setup.
• Ability to read operation sheets and parameter sheets to complete jobs.
• Ability to interpret routers, setup sheets, blueprints and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate Wire and/or Sinker EDM machines using approved programs and fixtures.
• Machine complex aerospace components to blueprint, model, and customer specifications.
• Read and interpret routers, setup sheets, blueprints, GD&T, and inspection requirements.
• Verify first-piece and in-process dimensions using appropriate measuring equipment.
• Monitor machine performance, wire condition, electrode wear, flushing, and cut quality; adjust as needed.
• Maintain accurate job, material, serial-number, and production documentation.
• Follow quality procedures, including inspection hold points, traceability, and nonconformance reporting.
• Escalate concerns to supervision, Quality, Engineering, or Maintenance.
• Perform routine machine care, cleaning, fluid checks, and basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area in line with 6S, FOD-prevention, and safety rules.
• Support schedule adherence and continuous improvement with teams across departments.
• Assist with other production needs and training on additional equipment.
