Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Fullerton, CA is seeking a Cost Accountant to support the Plant Controller and lead manufacturing cost accounting activities at our aerospace fastener plant.

You will monitor inventories, standard costs, and the budget while ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely close. The role requires 3–5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, strong MS Office skills, and ERP proficiency (QAD/Syteline).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting function in aerospace, automotive, medical, or related industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems (QAD/Syteline preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing cost accounting including BOMs, routings, standard costs, and overhead absorption.
• Inventory reconciliations between subledger and general ledger; resolve discrepancies.
• Month-end close support; inventory journal entries, adjustments, and cost rollups.
• Develop cost pools and update labor and overhead burden rates for accurate product costing.
• Perform variance analyses (PPV, material, labor, overhead) and identify cost drivers.
• Prepare manufacturing and operational reports to support management decisions.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance on cost improvement initiatives.
