Qualifications

• Enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering program (BS/MS/PhD) in good standing.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical design principles.
• Knowledge of metals, plastics, and rubber materials helpful but not required.
• Knowledge of designing for CNC machining and injection molding preferred.
• Knowledge/experience in CAD, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must continue enrollment in degree program upon completion of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all design stages of a harsh environment electrical connector development project, including requirements interpretation and scheduling.
• Create preliminary 3D CAD models during early-stage concept development.
• Present design concepts to engineering for Preliminary Design Review.
• Perform design changes based on team feedback on final concept.
• Finalize 3D CAD model and generate 2D drawings of the selected design.
• Work with procurement to obtain quotations and prototypes.
• Create a Design Validation Test Plan for the selected design.
• Assist in test setup and observe testing at ITT Cannon labs as needed.
• Interpret validation results to decide on design changes.
• Coordinate with Engineering Documentation to release the final design.
