Job summary

Axillon Aerospace seeks a Manufacturing Engineer 2 to support and improve composites manufacturing capabilities. You will contribute to design and deployment of aerospace composite processes, including NPI, process optimization, and continuous improvement across new product introduction and existing process optimization.

You will design and model with 3D CAD, define fiber architectures, ply layups, and resin systems, and apply design-for-manufacturability thinking in collaboration with process

Qualifications

• Evaluates and improves composites manufacturing processes.
• Involves NPI, process optimization and continuous improvement.
• Design for manufacturability approach in collaboration with process engineers.
• Creates 3D CAD models and defines ply layups and resin systems.
• Uses FEA to validate structural integrity and support testing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.
• Develops manufacturing processes and designs by studying requirements and implementing methods.
• Minimizes technical and human process variability.
• Maintains revision control for processes and design changes.
• Improves efficiency by planning workflows, space, and layout.
• Calculates production costs and reviews schedules for future needs.
• Coordinates with outside vendors on composites solutions.
• Supports night/weekend shifts as needed.
• Design & Modeling: Create 3D CAD models, fiber architectures, ply layups; optimize processes.
• Process Development: Develop work instructions, tooling plans, and assembly methods.
• Testing & Analysis: Use FEA for validation and run material tests.
• Troubleshooting: Lead root-cause analyses and implement fixes.
• Collaboration: Work with production, quality, and suppliers to meet goals.
