Job summary

Odys in California is seeking a hands-on Composite Technician to support fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of composite and metallic structures across our aircraft platforms. You’ll work closely with engineers and other technicians to manufacture composite parts, complete bonded assemblies, and install airframe components.

This role is highly hands-on, supporting prototype builds, layups, mold prep, vacuum bagging, curing, trimming, bonding, and final aircraft assembly across

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with composite fabrication, repair, or assembly.
• Experience with prepreg or wet layup, mold preparation, vacuum bagging, and oven curing.
• Experience applying resins, structural adhesives, sealants, fillers, and primers.
• Experience trimming, drilling, sanding, and finishing composite components.
• Experience using hand tools, powered tools, and precision measuring equipment.
• Experience assembling, fabricating, or handling critical and tight-tolerance components.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Understanding of composite workmanship standards, material handling, and contamination control.
• Experience manufacturing or assembling aircraft and aircraft components is a plus.
• Experience with bonded aerospace structures is a plus.
• Experience operating forklifts, gantry cranes, or other ground-support equipment is a plus.
• CNC machining experience is a plus.
• OSHA certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of quality procedures, inspection methods, dimensions, and tolerances is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare molds and tooling, including cleaning and releasing agents.
• Perform composite layups using prepreg and wet layup.
• Mix and apply resins, structural adhesives, sealants, fillers, and primers.
• Perform vacuum bagging, leak checks, and oven-curing.
• Trim, drill, sand, finish, and prepare composite parts for bonding.
• Assemble bonded composite and composite-to-metal structures.
• Set up and operate torque wrenches, drills, saws, sanders, heat guns, and soldering irons.
• Fabricate and assemble test rigs, jigs, fixtures.
• Interpret engineering models, drawings, work instructions.
• Fabricate, assemble, and handle tight-tolerance aerospace components.
• Assemble and install prototype aircraft mechanical and electrical components.
• Support in-house and external structural and systems testing.
• Inspect parts for appearance, defects, function, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Operate forklifts and gantry cranes.
• Maintain composite materials, tools, equipment, and shop areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Travel occasionally to machine and fabrication shops to obtain parts or purchase equipment.
• Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with teams of diverse backgrounds and skills.
