Job summary

Composite Factory in Mooresville, NC is seeking a Composite Design Engineer to complete a hands-on orientation and transition into the Engineering department. You will design composite components, create CATIA models, and prepare documentation to support manufacturing and customer requirements.

You will collaborate with production teams, vendors, and customers to ensure efficient design implementation and ongoing process improvement, while complying with safety and ITAR regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of design engineering experience.
• Proficient in CATIA for composite design, with understanding of tolerances and their impact on manufacturing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with teams, vendors and customers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office for documentation and project management.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenges.
• U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

• Complete a departmental rotation to learn CF's processes and final placement in Engineering.
• Develop accurate 3D models, layouts, and laminating details per release deadlines.
• Prepare engineering drawings and documentation for composite part manufacturing and data submissions.
• Collaborate with production teams during initial manufacturing to resolve engineering challenges.
• Analyze and solve design/manufacturing issues to improve efficiency and quality.
• Stay updated on emerging composite manufacturing technologies to enhance processes.
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate lead times, costs, and tooling availability.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers to ensure alignment on requirements.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures, policies, and regulations.
