Reports to: Chemical Maintenance Technician or Maintenance & OHS Manager
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
Schedule: 1st Shift; Overtime may be required (extended shifts and/or weekends); On-Call as needed. Hytek operates 24 hours with shifts as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)
Position Summary
This role involves supporting production by maintaining process solutions within specifications through chemical adjustments and bath replacements. It also includes environmental compliance activities such as wastewater treatment and hazardous materials management.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced technicians and department leads
- Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials properly
- Measure liquids and solids accurately
- Maintain chemical levels in tanks, including additions and splits
- Operate pumps for chemical maintenance on plating and anodize lines
- Use forklifts and pallet jacks to move chemicals and hazardous materials
- Adhere to Quality Assurance standards
- Follow safety protocols as trained
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Pre-employment and annual physical exams required; ability to wear a respirator
- Dependable attendance record
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with coworkers, customers, and auditors
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; export license may be required
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED; completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years manufacturing experience preferred
- 2-5 years handling hazardous materials, waste, and wastewater treatment preferred
Certifications
HAZWOPER certification is preferred but not required.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Lift up to 119 lbs. occasionally from floor to waist, 31 lbs. from floor to overhead
- Carry 55 lbs. occasionally
- Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. occasionally
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching; occasional sitting, bending, stooping, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping, and reaching overhead
