Job description

Job Title: Aerospace Assembly Technician

The Aerospace Assembly Technician supports the build and test of advanced gas turbine propulsion systems for defense applications by assembling complex mechanical and electromechanical components in a highly regulated, quality-focused environment. This role works with precision assemblies, engineering drawings, torque specifications, inspection equipment, and detailed work instructions while collaborating closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.


Responsibilities


  • Assemble turbine engine components and subassemblies in accordance with engineering specifications and detailed work instructions.

  • Install fittings, hardware, brackets, tubing, fasteners, and other precision mechanical components to exact standards.

  • Read and interpret assembly instructions, blueprints, drawings, and schematics to execute accurate builds.

  • Use torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, hand tools, and precision measuring equipment to perform assembly tasks.

  • Perform in-process inspections to verify compliance with design requirements and aerospace-grade quality standards.

  • Support engine build and testing activities, including preparation, setup, and execution as required.

  • Troubleshoot assembly issues, identify root causes, and participate in corrective action and improvement activities.

  • Maintain accurate production records, labor tracking logs, and documentation in line with quality requirements.

  • Perform routine maintenance and basic upkeep on production and assembly equipment.

  • Support continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) procedures and requirements, including consistent PPE usage.

  • Collaborate frequently with engineers, quality personnel, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and optimize processes.


Essential Skills


  • At least 3 years of mechanical assembly experience.

  • Experience working in aerospace, aviation, defense, medical device, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, assembly drawings, and schematics.

  • Hands-on experience using precision measuring equipment for inspection and verification.

  • Ability to use torque tools, including torque wrenches, in accordance with specifications.

  • Experience performing quality inspections and documenting results.

  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills for resolving assembly-related issues.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

  • U.S. citizenship.

  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to strict quality and safety standards.

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Comfort working with both mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


  • Experience with turbine or engine assembly, particularly gas turbine engines.

  • Electrical assembly experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

  • A&P Certification.

  • Military aviation maintenance experience.

  • Aerospace propulsion experience.

  • Experience working in an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.

  • Background in production testing of aerospace or similarly complex systems.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S methodology.

  • Experience in a fast-paced startup or high-growth manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, propulsion, and quality teams.

  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset.


Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, modern aerospace manufacturing facility focused on the development and production of gas turbine propulsion systems. Technicians spend most of their time assembling precision components, reading engineering documentation, performing inspections, and working hands-on at the bench and on production equipment. The environment is fast-paced and startup-oriented, with significant cross-functional collaboration and frequent interaction with engineers and quality personnel. Employees operate under aerospace-grade quality standards, with a high level of accountability and ownership over their work. Personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and strict Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance are required at all times.


The schedule typical consists of four 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday, or an alternative schedule of three 12-hour shifts Friday through Sunday, where employees work 36 hours and are paid for 40. The culture emphasizes continuous improvement, Lean and 5S practices, and the ability to adapt to occasional changing priorities as engine programs evolve. The work provides direct involvement in next-generation jet propulsion technology, additive manufacturing, and full lifecycle engine development from assembly through testing, with the opportunity to see the impact of your contributions on advanced propulsion products and national defense systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centennial, CO.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
