Job summary

Maryland State Police seeks a Pilot I-A (Second-in-Command) for MSP Aviation Command. As SIC, you will operate MSPAC aircraft on aero-medical, SAR, and law-enforcement missions per FAA/MSPAC rules, ensuring readiness and compliance.

You will conduct pre/post-flight inspections, maintain logs, and participate in ongoing training. A high school diploma and FAA pilot certifications are required, with additional experience in turbine aircraft preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1200 helicopter or fixed-wing flight hours as an FAA certificated pilot.
• Substitution of verified US Armed Forces piloting service for required experience may be allowed.
• Flight hours from helicopter and fixed-wing categories may not be combined to meet the requirement.

Responsibilities

• Flies MSPAC aircraft as SIC for aero-medical, SAR, homeland security and other law-enforcement missions per FAA/MSPAC regulations.
• Performs pre-flight and post-flight inspections per MSPAC and FAA standards.
• Maintains aircraft records and ensures readiness; completes required flight operation logs and maintenance documentation.
• Completes required MSPAC/FAA training and exercises; assists with related duties as needed.
