Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a Sensor Operator to capture high-quality geospatial data from aircraft across the United States. You will operate LiDAR and imaging sensors, coordinate flights, and ensure accurate data collection in dynamic field conditions.

Ideal candidates have aviation interest, flight hours or training, strong communication, and problem-solving skills. Travel up to 21 days at a time and work in remote locations with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience operating sensors or technical equipment in aircraft or helicopters.
• Interest in aviation; flight hours or aviation training preferred.
• Good communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
• Strong computer proficiency (Windows, MS Office, data handling).
• Ability to troubleshoot and learn advanced tech in the field.

Responsibilities

• Operate aerial sensors during data collection missions.
• Coordinate daily flights with flight crew.
• Troubleshoot sensor issues in real time; perform preventive maintenance.
• Conduct field data checks for quality and completeness.
• Travel up to 21 days at a time; work in remote locations across the U.S.
