Job description

A successful Aerial Lineman shall access specific areas to install, maintain, and/or repair a customer's telecommunications equipment. The position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction, familiarity with aerial lift devices, utility lines and poles, and the functionality of each. The candidate must be able to use cable placement equipment and tools, and identify and troubleshoot problems.

In order to perform this job, you must demonstrate, either by training or experience:

  • The ability to work safely, with or without supervision
  • The ability to work standing, at shoulder height and overhead, for extended periods
  • The ability to lift and manipulate lasher and other cable placement equipment
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • The ability to follow instructions and communicate verbally and in writing
  • The ability to fully understand and operate equipment, including aerial lift devices, lashers, and hand tools

Responsibilities:

  • Complete low and high-level labor-intensive tasks and operate assigned construction equipment
  • Complete daily production reports to document work performed
  • Use hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in project completion
  • Maintain safety by cleaning and maintaining supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of related work experience (preferably with coax)
  • Proficient in using hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, forklifts, saws, etc.
  • Proficient in telecom construction equipment like aerial lifts, dozers, lashers, meters, plows, etc.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle record check

Workplace Environment and Physical Demands:

Candidates must be able to climb and work aloft using ladders, aerial lifts, or gaffing, and stand or walk for long periods, using repetitive or fine hand movements. Work is outdoors in all weather conditions and rugged terrains, with periodic lifting of up to 75 pounds. Noise levels vary from moderate to loud, and extensive driving or long periods away from home may be required.
