Job summary

Kanaan Communications, LLC is hiring an Aerial Laborer Telecom in Gaylord, MI to support an aerial telecom crew with installing and maintaining fiber and telecom cables.

Provide tools and materials to crew, move equipment, and ensure safety notifications. Applicants should be 18+, authorized to work in the US, have a HS diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to become a pole climber. Previous telecom labor is a plus.

Qualifications

• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Pole climber certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Telecommunications labor experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide tools, parts, and materials to crew members as needed.
• Reposition or move bucket trucks, trailers, or equipment as directed.
• Ensure door-tagging and resident notifications for construction activities.
• Stock, clean, and maintain all company vehicles and equipment.
• Perform hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools.
• Direct/flag traffic flow per local DOT guidelines.
• Work overtime, travel, and on-call/afterhours as needed.

What you’ll do

• Provide tools, parts, and materials to crew members as needed
• Reposition or move bucket trucks, trailers, or equipment as directed
• Ensure that door-tagging and resident notifications for construction activities are completed before starting work each day
• Stock, clean, and maintain all company vehicles and equipment
• Perform hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools
• Direct/flag traffic flow in line with local DOT guidelines
• Work overtime, travel, and perform on-call/afterhours responsibilities as needed
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Certified pole climber or be willing to become certified
• Previous labor experience in telecommunications is a plus

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climb stairs, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 55 pounds, operate vehicle & heavy machinery
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
