Job summary

Swyft Fiber is seeking an experienced OSP Aerial Lead Technician to guide field crews in aerial FTTH installation, maintenance, and repair. You will diagnose network issues, mentor technicians, and ensure safety and compliance in the field.

You will lead daily activities, operate bucket trucks, and coordinate with utilities and contractors while maintaining documentation and safety standards. This is a hands-on leadership role in a field setting.

Qualifications

5+ years of aerial construction/maintenance experience in telecom, cable, or utility environments.
2+ years in a lead/foreman capacity directing field technicians.
Proven bucket truck/aerial lift operation on live fiber at height.
Working knowledge of fiber splicing, OTDR testing, and troubleshooting FTTH.
Strong understanding of NESC, pole attachments, and make-ready procedures.
Experience with strand mapping, lashing, pole climbing, and rigging.
Valid driver's license with clean record; Chauffeur’s license preferred.
Familiarity with GIS mapping and standard field apps.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate daily aerial maintenance crew activities, scheduling and on-site direction.
Operate bucket truck to install, splice, maintain, and repair aerial fiber on poles.
Diagnose and resolve outside plant fiber outages and service issues.
Perform make-ready work, pole attachment surveys, and strand mapping.
Inspect aerial plant for clearance, tension, grounding, and bonding compliance.
Lead safety briefings and enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
Coordinate pole attachments and locates with third-party pole owners.
Maintain vehicles and aerial equipment; complete pre-trip inspections.
Document work, red-line as-builts, splice records, and test results in GIS/OSP systems.
Respond to after-hours outage calls on an on-call rotation; train junior staff.
Communicate status to dispatch/engineering/customers; manage delays and restoration timelines.
Perform other duties as assigned; adapt to changing duties as needed.
