Job summary

CFS in Orlando, FL is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function within an AEC environment. This senior role reports to ownership and works closely with executives to enhance financial reporting and drive performance.

You will oversee a project-focused accounting team, manage month-end close, budgeting, cash flow, and financial analysis while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Eight or more years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• AEC industry experience required.
• Deltek Vantagepoint experience required.
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.
• Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams and improving accounting processes.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the organization's accounting operations, including month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Lead, manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and established internal control requirements.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations for business decisions.
• Identify and implement accounting process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
• Coordinate audit activities, tax compliance, and external financial reporting requirements.
• Support operational leadership with financial information related to project performance and business results.
