Job summary

Good Shepherd Services seeks an Advocate Counselor to provide individual, family and group counseling, case management, advocacy, referrals and crisis intervention for students at J.H.S. 292.

The role collaborates with GSS and DOE to implement program policies while aligning with the agency’s mission and vision. The position requires an Associate Degree, bilingual abilities in Spanish/English, and strong communication skills to support up to 50+ students with post-secondary planning and

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required.
  • Experience working with adolescent/young adults individually and in groups.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management and wraparound support services for students to meet graduation requirements.
  • Provide individual, family and group counseling.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Engage families and involve them in the student’s plan of care.
  • Develop and implement strategic and goal planning for students on caseload.
  • Create groups/workshops such as Advisory, Men’s and Women’s groups.
  • Assist students in attending school regularly by identifying obstacles and connecting with resources.
  • Conduct attendance outreach via home visits, calls, texts, and mailings.
