Job summary

Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. seeks part-time youth advocate workers to provide direct advocacy services across Hartford, New Haven, and Fairfield County.

The role is hourly with flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and offers mileage and activity reimbursement. Responsibilities include mentoring youth, coordinating with families and schools, and guiding participants to community resources, while maintaining accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with at-risk youth and in community-based programs.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a dependable, committed professional and positive role model for youth in community, school, and home settings.
• Initiate, organize, plan, develop, and implement direct advocacy services for assigned participants and their families.
• Build positive relationships with youth and families while providing guidance, support, and encouragement.
• Assist participants in identifying strengths, setting goals, and accessing community resources.
• Collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to support participant success.
• Support violence prevention efforts through mentoring, relationship-building, conflict resolution, and positive youth engagement.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of services provided.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with at-risk youth and in a community-based program
• Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience using an electronic health record system is a plus.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) is preferred.
• Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance coverage.
