Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. is seeking a part-time Advocate to serve youth and families in Travis County. The role emphasizes direct advocacy, planning, and coordination with community resources, with a wraparound, strength-based approach.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in community work and with at-risk youth preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct advocacy services to assigned youth and families.
• Develop and implement service plans based on a wraparound, strength-based model.
• Coordinate with community resources to support youth and families.
• Maintain flexible hours and travel for home visits within Travis County.

Job description

Status: Part-Time Hourly FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Position: Hourly, Part Time position serving youth and families throughout Travis Countyare available for the Advocate Position.

• Applicant must be dependable, committed, and able to serve as a positive role model for youth in the community, school, and home settings.
• The Primary responsibilitiesof the Advocate are to initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participants and their families.
• All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.
• This position offers flexible hours, competitive weekly pay and activity reimbursement.

Hourly Rate: $21.00 per hour.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Prior experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
• Experience working with at-risk youth
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus
• Must be comfortable with home visits and have reliable transportation.
• Bilingual/Spanish Speaking is a plus
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance coverage is required.
