PSEG operates under a Flexible Work Model where flexible work is offered when job requirements allow. In support of this model, roles have been categorized into one of four work location categories:

Onsite are roles that have specific onsite requirements and are typically onsite daily.

Hybrid fixed are roles that are a blend of onsite work/in-person interactions with some ability to work remotely and require employees to live within a commutable distance and be onsite fixed days each week.

Hybrid flexible are roles that can be performed remotely but require some level of onsite work/in-person interactions on a regular basis, require employees to live within a commutable distance and, since business needs vary by position and may change over time, managers will set expectations and flexibility regarding where and when work is performed.

Fully remote are roles that can be performed remotely, require employees to live in approved states and will have purpose-driven in-person interactions on occasion.

We want you to be healthy, balanced, and feel secure. That’s why you’ll enjoy a comprehensive range of benefits, with a focus on supporting your whole health. Starting on day one of your employment, you’ll be offered several health-related benefits including medical, vision, dental, well-being and behavioral health programs. We also offer a retirement program, 401(k) with company match, company paid life insurance, tuition reimbursement and a minimum of 18 days of paid time off per year (including vacation, scheduled holidays, and floating holidays).

PSEG offers a unique experience to our more than 12,000 employees – we provide the resources and opportunities for career development that come with being a Fortune 500 company, as well as the attention, camaraderie, and care for one another you might typically associate with a small business. Our focus on combatting climate change through clean energy technology, our new net zero climate vision for 2030 and enhanced commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and supporting the communities we serve make this a particularly exciting time to join PSEG.

This is an internal-facing position that enhances state and federal regulatory and legislative advocacy efforts by:
1) Working with SGA and federal advocacy leads to develop compelling persuasion arguments on our key issues that will resonate with key external audiences, including the public policy decision-makers and influencers that affect PSEG’s business. The position will develop arguments solidly backed up with facts, which may be elicited from internal subject matter experts, external consultants/firms hired to perform certain analyses, our internal business plans, regulatory filings, and financial or investor information.
2) Supporting the state and federal advocacy efforts by producing deliverables for different external stakeholder audiences, including power point slide decks, graphics, white papers, position papers, summaries or other written materials designed to simplify complex material for external audiences.

3) Supporting the ESG governance aspect of PSEG’s stakeholder engagement by managing a cross-functional stakeholder engagement council of key relationship managers across the Enterprise, with the goal of coordinating our identification of important stakeholders, engagement channels and approaches, key issues, opportunities and trouble spots.

This position may be based in either the Newark, NJ area or the Washington, D.C. area. Candidates based in the D.C. area should be aware that the role supports both federal affairs and New Jersey state government affairs. As such, regular travel to NJ is required, including Newark and Trenton, approximately biweekly, with additional travel as business needs dictate.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work with federal and state advocacy leads to formulate substantive arguments to build stakeholder support for PSEG’s policy agenda, legislative/regulatory outcomes or investments.
  • Create deliverables that can be used with external audiences by federal and state government affairs colleagues.
  • Gather the supporting information to bolster our persuasion effort. This can include managing external consultants or academics retained to provide expertise; engaging with PSEG subject matter experts on tax, finance, business operations, or other disciplines; absorbing written products either generated by PSEG such as the PSEG business plan, regulatory filings, pleadings, investor materials, or other studies and reports by external stakeholders or organizations
  • Support effort to close the ESG gap related to systemic stakeholder engagement by coordinating an Enterprise-wide team of relationship managers, and overseeing the decentralized effort to catalog critical stakeholders, engagement approaches, issues of interest, opportunities and trouble spots in our engagement with important external stakeholders.
