Job summary

MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, based in Washington, DC, seeks a Communications Associate to drive a multi-faceted advocacy communications program. You will support day-to-day operations, implement cross-channel strategies, and help grow MAZON’s public profile while ensuring messaging aligns with our mission to end hunger for people of all backgrounds.

The role requires some nights and weekends, with a strong focus on collaboration, writing, and data-driven storytelling across digital

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience working in a nonprofit/public affairs organization, preferably in a communications role.
  • Experience with WordPress, Canva, Google Analytics, and social media management; Salesforce/Quorum/Tableau/Feathr is a plus.
  • Excellent judgment, critical thinking, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen eye for design and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, work independently and collaboratively.
  • High integrity, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Deep commitment to MAZON’s mission to end hunger.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day department projects, events, meetings, and general operations under the Director of Communications.
  • Work with the Senior Communications Manager to implement cross-channel communications strategies and PR tactics.
  • Maintain and improve MAZON’s online presence, including website and social media; compile data on MAZON’s digital footprint.
  • Monitor MAZON in the news and anti-hunger issues; identify engagement opportunities to advance policy priorities.
  • Curate media assets, press lists, editorial calendars, and tracking documents.
  • Draft newsletters, talking points, speeches, op-eds, infographics, blogs, and other materials as needed.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned; some nights and weekends required.
