Job summary

The ACLU of Texas seeks a Communications Strategist to design advocacy campaigns across multiple issue areas, including voting rights, LGBTQIA+ equality, immigrants’ rights, and reproductive freedom. You will craft messaging, manage content, and coordinate with partners to advance civil liberties across Texas, using a strategic communications lens and strong writing skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
• 3+ years of advocacy communications experience.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with AP style.
• Ability to communicate persuasively to diverse media, political, stakeholder, community, and influencer audiences.
• Spanish language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proposes and designs communications plans for advocacy campaigns and rapid response moments across paid, earned, shared, and owned media.
• Drafts messaging, press releases, blogs, op-eds, social posts, and reports; uses analytics to evolve content.
• Builds relationships across the ACLU network to collaborate on campaigns and share resources.
