Job summary

The Construction and Technical Programs provide a wide rangeofopportunities to enhance current employment and to provide a careerladder for advancement. Using a hands-on approach to learning,these programs prepare individuals for initial employment in a widerange of industrial occupations.

Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
  • Assists in all advisement efforts, including pre-requisite andprogram course academic advisement, using various modes ofcommunication, embracing progressive advisement and student successin a technology rich environment.
  • Tracks students’ progress through their program of study,providing guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Interprets and explains requirements for vocationalcertificates, terminal and transfer degrees.
  • Responds to student inquires and requests for information viaphone, email, zoom, social media, etc.
  • Participates in recruitment and marketing events.
  • Assists with maintenance and distribution of recruitmentmaterials (fliers, website, etc.)
  • Speaks to small and large groups of prospective students andtheir parents, explaining programs, career opportunities,educational and career lattices and employment potential.
  • Processes and evaluates application and admissions materialsfrom potential students, responding appropriately, in a timelymanner.
  • Works with Academic Chairs and staff to maintain accuratestudent records, strictly honoring the privacy and security ofstudent records and other sensitive information according toappropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies andprocedures.
  • Maintains positive and close relationships with Academic Chairsto ensure a smooth admissions process to limited enrollmentprograms, assist students with registration and enrollment issues,monitor student progress, provide accurate and timely data, andcoordinate tours.
  • Completes reporting requirements for internal and externalstakeholders.
  • Networks with area schools and industry partners.
  • Collaborates with SF’s Counseling Center, Career ResourcesCenter, Office for Admissions, and other offices acrosscampus.
  • Works as a positive and effective team member in a dynamicenvironment.
  • Keeps a record of operating procedures and may share positionspecific knowledge, including use of collegewide ERP and relatedsystem processes, by providing guidance on standard operations andestablished departmental procedures as needed.
  • Provides service to the college through participation inevents, committees, and other college activities.
  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures,guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees,including but not limited to those related to document retentionand destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
  • Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality ofrecords and other sensitive information according to appropriatestate, federal, and college regulations, policies, andprocedures.
  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed,accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required

A bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of relatedwork experience in academic advisement, student affairs, studentservices, counseling, mentoring and/or a related area or acombination of education and experience equal to six (6)years.

Additional Requirements

A criminal background check will beconducted.

Preferred

Master's degree in Student Personnel, EducationalLeadership, Counseling and/or a relevant field is preferred, as isexperience with college academic advising. Bilingual applicants arestrongly preferred.
