About Us: With a statewide footprint, ACTprovides case management, emergency financial assistance, HIV services, housingsupport, financial empowerment, tax preparation, advocacy, and serves as atrusted fiscal and administrative partner across Connecticut’s human servicesecosystem.

After twenty-eight years of stable leadership, ACT seeks a newChief Executive Officer to guide the organization through its next chapter ofsustainability, growth, and impact.

Position Summary: The ChiefExecutive Officer (CEO) is the chief executive and organizational leaderresponsible for advancing ACT’s mission, strengthening financialsustainability, stewarding relationships, supporting staff and culture, andpartnering with the Board on strategy and governance.

The CEO will inherit a strong, mission-driven $12.9M organizationwith complex funding, deep public-sector relationships, and a highlyexperienced leadership team. This role calls for a people-centered, financiallysavvy, and relational leader who can lead its 40-member staff throughtransition while honoring ACT’s culture and history.

Organizational Leadership &Culture

External Relations & Advocacy
  • Communicate ACT’s intersections of health,housing, poverty, and justice in ways that inform, engage, and influence
  • Foster relationships with state agencies,funders, and partners
  • Serve as a key ambassador to policymakers,funders, and community leaders
  • Represent ACT in advocacy efforts aligned withmission and values
  • Ensure organizational readiness and steadyleadership amid evolving federal and state funding landscapes
  • Lead the organization through executiveleadership transition following long‑tenured leadership, while providingclarity, continuity, and readiness for future strategic planning.
  • Assess program alignment, scale, andsustainability
  • Strengthen internal systems, documentation,and cross-program coordination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bringssenior leadership experience in direct service or human servicesnonprofits, with a track record of guiding mission-driven teams andoverseeing client-centered operations of comparable scale and complexity.
  • Offersdeep expertise in managing government contracts and public fundingstreams, including compliance, reporting, and long-term relationshipstewardship with federal, state, and local funders.
  • Providesexperience in financial stewardship across complex, multi-program budgets,balancing fiscal sustainability with programmatic impact and missionpriorities.
  • Hasa proven record of fundraising and revenue diversification, strengtheninga mix of public, private, institutional, and unrestricted funding sources.
  • Leadsorganizations effectively through periods of transition or growth,offering stability, clarity, and thoughtful change management during timesof evolution.
  • Cultivatesstrong, trust-based relationships within public-sector and nonprofitecosystems, advancing collaboration, systems alignment, and sharedcommunity impact.
  • Bringsfamiliarity with ACT’s intersecting issue areas—including health equity,HIV, housing, poverty, and addiction—and the ability to connect programs,policy, and advocacy to meaningful outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000depending on experience and qualifications.
