HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding seeks a Welder to join the X68 OIP MECHANICAL team in Newport News, VA. After completing welding school, you will perform structural and pipe welds on ship components using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes.

Must have at least one year of welding experience, the ability to work in confined spaces, lift 40 lbs, and pass a respirator fit test and physical agility test. Training and certification support provided.

Qualifikationen

• Must have at least one full year of welding experience.
• Must be able to work in small confined spaces.
• Must lift 40 lbs and pass a respirator fit test.
• Must pass Physical Agility Test and work assigned shift.
• Welding school completion is part of the on-boarding process.

Aufgaben

• Perform structural and/or pipe welds in ship construction.
• Use SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
• Complete tack, fillet, and full penetration welds as required.
• Meet nondestructive testing requirements (visual, MPI, UT, radiographic).
